Asoka Asoka was one of the greatest rulers of ancient India. He was the grandson of Chandragupta Maurya of Magadha who established the best Indian empire. Chandragupta reigned for twenty-four years before relinquishing his corporation in favor of his son, Bundusara (Asokas father), who left no large-minded mark upon the empire.
